The Butterfly bushes are planted in spots where it can be seen and appreciated, because when it flowers, bees and butterflies love to stop off to peruse its blooms. The flowers are quite fragrant, light purple and orange in colour.
Cold Hardiness - The Butterfly bush family survives to approximately -24C for winter temps. Also a prolonged winter freeze of 45-60 days continuous can also be tough on them. Best to provide 4-6" of mulch over its rootzone in fall. Sizing - Topping out at 6' tall, 4' wide. Location - close to the house is best so it can benefit from a few degrees of help in the winter, Sun or half shade, moist soil is best, but not too wet.
