Features and Where to use
This small feature tree is loved for it's attractive rich-burgundy foliage in spring & summer, that turns brilliant-scarlet in fall. It holds colour better in shadier areas than most other Japanese Maples.
Growth Details
Cold Hardiness - Zone 5
Sizing - Emperor 1's will typically mature anywhere from 12-16' tall and 12-16' wide. It has a slow-medium growth rate. Prune in summer to shape or thicken.
Location - Full sun to 75% shade (leaves will be less red in shade), plant in areas protected from wind, It does best in well drained soil with high organic matter.
